Twig is an absolutely delightful, itty bitty, super sweet senior chi. She’s very spunky and has lots of love and affection to give. She is so much cuter in person. The volunteers absolutley love holding and cuddling her! Twiglet likes everyone she meets and gets along fine with any other respectful animals, including dogs 30 times her size & cats. Her foster Mom reports she LOVES kids! She goes bonkers with excitement -tail wagging and dancing around to be near them. Twig is a very affectionate little lady and is happiest being very near her people. Her foster is working on crate and potty training, and this smart little girl is picking it up quickly! Because of her age and tiny stature, she does have a knee condition that  that had ended those “racing through the park” days for Miss Twiggy, but she still enjoys getting out for short walks. She recently had all but 4 of her teeth removed due to severe dental disease, but she is doing great without. She will need a strict wet food only diet for life, with no human food.

This is an update from Twigs foster- Twig is a great little old lady, and would be perfect for any living situation (apartment, house, kids, other animals). I’ve been fostering her through DAWG for 3 months now, and she is ready to have a home of her own! She is extremely affectionate and playful once she gets comfortable (took about a week at first, but her personality continues to blossom on a daily basis). My family and I are constantly entertained by her antics around the house. Her favorite activities include: snuggling, eating, going on walks & rolling around on her back while kicking her legs up in the air (this is her idea of a really good time!)

I have an 85 pound shepherd & 45 pound lab that she gets along with just fine, though they are very respectful of her & don’t try to play rough. I also have 2 cats & turtles, which she mostly just ignores. One thing I’ve learned about Twig in the time we’ve been together, is that she LOVES kids- she goes crazy trying to see them on walks or errands around town.

She is now crate trained, and sleeps through the night on her own bed or in her crate. She does not potty in her crate. She is still working on getting the full idea of potty training, but she does use “potty pads” very consistently, and will go outside consistently as long as I take her out every few hours.

Twig came to DAWG in January, suffering from severe dental disease- almost all of her teeth were removed because they were so infected. She is doing great now with 4 teeth left, and has become a lot more energetic through the healing process. You would never know this little lady is 9 years old! She also has a knee condition that slows her down a bit some days, but she really likes short walks around the neighborhood or in the park twice a day.

If you’re interested in meeting tiny Twig or getting more information about her please contact her foster at  Lisa.Weber@sbdawg.org or call DAWG at (805) 681-0561 to schedule a meet & greet! Once you meet her, you’ll be hooked!!
