Named after a small town located in the panhandle of Texas, Pecos- a Basenji mix, is a true charmer. We know he’s not a purebred because Basenjis can’t bark. He is a very cute dog, with long lean body, big brown eyes, long ears the perk straight up and that curly tail. Has a soft white easy-care coat with large butterscotch colored markings on one side. He doesn’t shed much. He does have the tightly curled tail of a Basenji. When he first came to the shelter, he was very frightened and unsure about us. but all that has changed. Now he’s feeling confidant. He’s very affectionate and enjoys being around most people and is friendly with all dogs both big and small. He is great with all the little dogs in Little Dog Land. He is very playful, and silly with them. He loves playing with his toys and especially enjoys chasing a ball. He has a fun trick that he does when he get’s tired of the little dogs in the play yard. He jumps up on top of the dog house to escape them. It is really funny, none of the other little dogs can jump up there and he gets a little break. Pecos walks great on a leash and is a swift runner, moving like a deer with a graceful, light-footed gait. He seems very alert and high energy, it will be important to provide him enough exercise and mental stimulation to keep him from being bored and causing mischief. Pecos appears to be potty trained. He is playful and fun to be around.
Update- Pecos has been accepted to be one of the lucky chosen”Guest DAWGs” at DIOJI dog spa/daycare in Goleta. Pecos is now welcomed as a guest and can spend one day each week playing with the dogs and enjoying their lovely facilities. He was GREAT with all the doggies there, big and small. Pecos was absolutley pooped after returning from an action packed day there.
Thank you DIOJI!! Congratulations Pecos! Such a great dog!
