style="color: #000000; font-size: large;">Missy is a medium sized, blonde, Aussie mix. She is a very sweet, shy, loving dog who’s happy life has been turned upside down. She grew up as a beloved member of an active family that included 3 children. Her military family is being deployed overseas and is heartbroken that they’re unable to take their beloved Missy with them. We promised them we would find Missy a very special new home where she will be loved, adored and given excellent care. She does have some minor special needs that her new adopter must be aware of to keep her happy and healthy. She has a couple allergies that can affect her skin. Corn and fleas to be exact. She does best on a special allergen type food. And it is very important that she’s always current on flea protection. Missy is good with cats and smaller dogs and likes big dogs but it extremely cautious when meeting any big dog for the first time because she was attacked by a big dog as a younger girl. We will post a photo and update her description with more details about her personality real soon. Please check back!

Spunky Found Her Forever Home!

DAWG Blog
<guid

Mia is also mostly black but with a much larger patch of white on her chest as well as little slippers of white on all four paws. They are both calm and easy going. Mia certainly acts like a protective big sister and sometimes give a gentle “warning snap” at people she isn’t familiar with who try to touch her sister, it is actually very endearing. style="color: #000000; font-size: large;">Nemo is just delightful. He is happy, confident, alert, curious, friendly and smart. He has a very playful yet easy-going attitude about life. He’s great with other little dogs. Nemo loves attention and is very friendly with everyone he‘s met so far. He has a calm demeanor and can relax and chill out by himself quite easily and does not seem like much of a barker. This young pup is more or less a white dog with some large black and tan spots. He has tan freckles on his legs. He has a very soft, thick coat that’s speckled with brown and black freckles and a thick tail that looks like it was dipped in white paint that he wags a lot He appears potty trained. Nemo does have some something going on withone of his back legs- it appears to be lame but doesn‘t slow him down at all. Our Vet staff has scheduled to x-ray his leg this week. FYI-He is much happier looking in person. We took his photo the minute he came in and he was pretty uneasy after a long drive. We’ll update his description as we get to know him better. Nemo is a wonderful little dog and would fit nicely into any active loving home. Come in to meet him!

Oscar was found as a stray in Santa Maria and waited at the shelter to be claimed. No one came. We were delighted to take him and know that he will love his new life in Santa Barbara. This young purebred dachshund is very handsome. He is long and slim, has beautiful markings and a very shiny soft coat of hair. He has a long nose has long ears that are as soft as velvet. Oscar has a very gentle temperament. He seems happy, calm and easy going. He is great with the other little dogs that he came in with. Oscar is very confident and walks great on a leash. Oscar has not barked since his arrival at DAWG. He appears to be completely potty trained. As with all short legged dogs with long bodies, it is important for their health to try to discourage them from jumping down from high places. Up and down stairs is usually not an issue; but jumping off the bed or out of a truck or car will eventually lead to back troubles. It’s always a good idea to train them to wait for a little lift down or to set up a small bench or step for their use. We will update his description as we get to know the things he likes. Check back.

This fun little pup has a very bubbly personality. She’s happy and eager to be in the company of people. She is very wiggly and energetic, but sits very still when she’s being held. She is also great with the little dogs she came in with. Emma is confident and walks really great on a leash, she actually prances like a tiny show horse, head and tail held high – very charming! She is cute as a button, with her thick wavy terrier hair the color of butterscotch pudding, fuzzy, perky little ears and a constantly wagging tail. Emma is comfortable around kids but due to her small size there should be always be supervision when around toddlers who could easily squish or drop her. We think she may be potty trained but if not she’ll certainly pick up on it quickly. We will update her description as we get to know her better. Check back!

<a
