DANI GIRL is a low-keyed, well mannered lady who wiuld be a perfect companion for someone who is looking for a mellow, gentle, quiet buddy to hang out, relax and spend time with. Dani is a bit nervous when first meeting strangers, but is very affectionate and easy going when she feels comfortable with her people. She actually gets very excited when her favorite volunteers come in. She dances around and makes happy playful little barks. While Dani gets along just fine with other little dogs, she would probably be happiest as the only dog in the household or possibly with a more mature dog.  Dani does not need much excercise. She enjoys walks in the park  (she’s great on a leash), or through the neighborhood, riding in the car, and of course lot’s of lap-time. She loves to chill close to her people.  She is completely potty trained. We think Dani would be  very happy and contentin a calm, mature adult household. Give her a chance and she’ll capture your heart.

SUNSHINE is currently under medical care but would to find a long term foster home. “Sunny Girl” is super smart, incredibly affectionate and has really great household manners. She loves to play ball, relax in the shade and have her head petted and butt scratched while she naps on the couch. She also really enjoys sleeping on the foot of the bed. She’s a very sweet, calm, loyal, loving pooch who will cover you with her sloppy kisses if you’ll let her. Sunshine absolutely LOVES People!! She’s loves everyone she meets. Unfortunately, she does not feel the same about all dogs, especially little dogs. Our Sunny Girl has some strict requirements for a home- she must be the only 4 legged creature in the household and is not allowed to be off leash in public- but would love to explore, chase a ball and relax in your nice fenced back yard. She really is a no fuss type of girl. Please consider giving Sunshine the safe, loving home she has waited for so long!! At least come by and spend some time in our “Meet & Greet yard” with her. We think you’ll quickly find out why she has so many DAWG volunteers “crazy in love with her”.

BILLY- is another Chi mix who’s been waiting at DAWG for a home for way too long. This guy is as smart as they come. He is sweet, playful, happy go lucky. He gets along nicely with most of our little dogs and is friendly with cats. He does have a few minor issues- he does NOT like to be in a crate. He sleeps on a cushion on the floor in little dog land at night when all the other dogs have a kennel. He also does not like big dogs. He barks like crazy when one walks by. One more thing is bikes and skateboards. Hates them!! Other than that, he is a lovely, care free dog. Could you be just the person he has been waiting for? If you can offer Billy a safe, happy home where he wouldn’t have to be crated, could keep him from big dogs, skate boards and bikes, please come by to meet him. He is very special!

Billie Jean is featured in our May Newsletter.

She needs a very special home.

Billie Jean was found walking along the highway in Buellton. Her microchip was registered to Las Vegas, Nevada! Unfortunately, the contact information was no longer valid. Try as they might, no one was able to locate her original family.

Billie Jean is an incredibly intelligent 9 year old spayed female Border Collie. Over her three years at DAWG, she has proven to be extremely loyal and affectionate once you have established a relationship with her. In late 2008 and again in early 2010, she experienced a slipped disk in her lumbar spine. Each time, she responded well to periods of strict exercise restriction and steroid therapy. Both incidents seemed to have been brought on by very high impact exercise after long periods of sedentary behavior. For this reason, it is imperative that Billie Jean receive consistent low impact exercise; such as a leisurely, 30 minute, leash-controlled daily walk. Please do not challenge her with high impact off-leash activity… or with the temptations of the dog park or beach.

Outside of her daily walking routine, she would love to settle in to a restful lifestyle. She would love to hang out with her owner in the home or at the office, in peaceful and restful surroundings. She would be happy as the only pet in the household, absolutely focused upon her owners. She does enjoy the company of small dogs, but usually not cats or with dogs her size or larger.

Billie Jean has had a life filled with challenges, but she has overcome them because she is tough, resourceful, and intelligent. We think that now she yearns for the simple life: a home to call her own, and a human to love.

A little shy with people at first, but warms up very quickly.  She is a smart and active dog that would love to become part of your family.

Outgoing, friendly, puppy attention and energy.  Will do beautifully with some training. Occasionally a clever escape artist, he will need secure fencing and lots of stimulation.

There’s a lot more to this girl than just good looks! In her foster home she gets along with kids of all ages and enjoys playing with other dogs and going on outings to the beach. Needs a little extra patience and attention, but will surely end up being an excellent addition to any family
