Youth Ambassador Program (YAP)
YAP Hosting Food & Toy Drive
The YAP is conducting a canned dog food and dog toy drive this holiday season. Please consider donating! Toys with stuffing cannot be accepted as they pose a choking hazard, but the dogs love extra large Kongs and Busy Buddies, the ones you can put food into. As for food, the shelter uses mostly Avoderm canned food for the regular diets (found at Pet House, Petco, Lemo’s, and Lazy Acres), and Hill’s Prescription diets: i/d, r/d, and z/d (found at many vets and animal hospitals as well as Pet House in Goleta). For dog cookies, we use the Kirkland brand from Costco (in a big green and purple with cookies shaped like dog bones). For more information and to participate, email adevenne@gmail.com.
What is the YAP?
DAWG’s new Youth Ambassador Program (YAP) recruits current high school students in Santa Barbara County to go out into the community to share DAWG’s message of a no-kill shelter, raise awareness of dog care including spay and neuter, and fundraise for DAWG, while earning community service hours. Please fill out an application and parental consent waiver. Please look for the DAWG Youth Ambassador Program page on Facebook for more information.
